When negotiations for the National Contract begin in January, the National Contract proposals that were approved on October 17, 2017 will be submitted to the company.
December 12, 2017 - UPS and UPS Freight Supplemental Committees continue talks with Company.
As the Union prepares for UPS and UPS Freight national talks to begin in January, supplemental committees have been meeting over the course of the last two months to exchange proposals and engage in bargaining sessions with the Company.
Out of roughly 30 supplemental meetings held since October, common issues that have been raised by the Company include flexible workweeks and the day after Thanksgiving holiday. Several more supplemental committees are scheduled to meet before the end of the year.
"The Package Division and the National Negotiating Committee are preparing for national negotiations and we are ready to bring many of the proposals we heard from members to the bargaining table next month," said Denis Taylor, National Negotiating Committee Co-Chairman and Director of the Teamsters Package Division.
National negotiations for the UPS and UPS Freight contracts begin on January 22, 2018. Sessions for national negotiations have been scheduled through June. We will provide updates to local unions and members at the end of each weekly negotiating session.
October 17, 2017 - Leaders from UPS Local Unions overwhelmingly accept Contract Proposals.
More than 260 local Union leaders who represent Teamsters at UPS and UPS Freight gathered today in the Washington, D.C. area to review national contract proposals, all of which were approved.
Contract proposals adopted today by the National Negotiating Committee (NNC) focus on subcontracting, excessive hours and other issues. For UPS members, additional proposals were adopted related to ongoing harassment and increases in the average size and weight of shipments.
Denis Taylor, NNC Co-Chair and Director of the Teamsters Package Division, thanked local Union leaders for working with the committee to compile proposals from members at UPS and UPS Freight.
"Our local Unions stepped up and made sure their members' input was heard today and gathered thousands of contract proposal forms," Taylor said. "We will present many of these proposals to the company when our first negotiating meetings take place in January."
October 10, 2017 - UPS Teamster Locals to Review Contract Proposals.
On Tuesday, October 17, representatives from each local Union that represents UPS and UPS Freight Teamsters will be meeting in the Washington, D.C. area to review and approve national contract proposals that will be submitted to UPS when negotiations begin.
September 25, 2017 - Screening Committee reviews proposals.
The Screening Committee will review all of the proposals from the local Unions and decide which ones to submit to the Two-Person meeting that will be held on October 17, 2017
